• LG and Kenmore Refrigerator Compressor Issue

    If your LG or Kenmore (model # beginning with 795) refrigerator is cooling only a little bit and the compressor is running then you probably have this problem. Call LG First.

  • Your LG or Kenmore refrigerator is going to need the compressor and filter dryer replaced. This is an extremely common issue with LG and Kenmore refrigerators between the ages of two years and six years old. The good news is that those components are still under a manufacturer's warranty for the components themselves. You will need to contact LG or Sears Home Services directly to schedule that repair. The number to contact LG at is 1-800-243-0000. The number for Sears Home Services is 1-800-665-2127

    1. Provide your model and serial number to the person on the phone and say that you would like to schedule service because your compressor is broken down.


    2. If they try to give you telephone numbers to contact authorized service companies or tell you to contact your own service company and that LG or Sears will pay for the repair please know that this is not going to work for you. This behavior has been used to trick the consumer. Instead request that they put you on hold and contact the servicer and schedule the repair on your behalf. This will ensure that you don't waste 20-60 minutes on the phone just to find out that the servicer that they gave the number to either doesn't exist or does not perform the repairs on LG or Kenmore refrigerators for warranty matters.


    3. The cost of this repair for you out-of-pocket will be between 500 and $600. This is the cost of labor for the above mentioned repair.


    4. If the compressor is no longer under warranty then the repair will cost between 1500 and $1600 and at that point it's better to just replace the appliance. We do not replace compressors for any reason due to the economic expense and the high likelihood of repeated or continual failures
